    Who Should Join 

    Individuals concerned about improving the safety and health of unique occupational populations
    and those interested in ensuring occupational and environmental justice for workers.

    Members come from both clinical and academic backgrounds or from a combination of both. Our members’ efforts to improve conditions for these populations have included published articles, dissemination of education/training to community clinics that treat these workers and are involved with workers’ rights, research that partners academic centers with the community, and public policy initiatives/involvement.

    The Underserved Occupational Populations Section will provide a forum for ACOEM members who are interested in the special occupational health problems experienced by underserved populations which include more than 1.5 million migrant and seasonal agricultural workers; migrant construction workers, off-shore commercial fisherman, loggers, and hospitality workers. This section will focus on educating health professionals and the public on the needs of these populations; stimulating research on how to improve their working environments; and guiding public policy.

    • Developing an upcoming Listserv
    • Participate in partnership with the Migrant Clinicians Network.
